Became artist, caricaturist, and scenic artist in New York theatres. Studied Arctic history. Made 2 voyages to Arctic regions with Commander R. East. Peary, United States Navy.
Special correspondent New York Herald on Peary expeditions, 1896-1897.
Made 1st casts of North. Greenland Eskimos ever made, for American Museum Natural History, New New York Painted history pictures “Rescue of the Greeley Party” and “Farthest North” for army and navy departments, Washington. Also “The Schwatka Search”.
