Spallone received a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Rome in 1976. Four years later he earned his degree in neurosurgery from the same university.
Spallone began his career as a researcher, clinical assistant at the Institute of Neurosurgery in Rome in 1980. A year later he became an assistant professor at the same institute. Aldo worked as an assistant professor of neurosurgery at the University of Rome Tor Vergata from 1987 to 1993.
In 1993, Aldo took a position of a director of skull base laboratory at the Burdenko Neurosurgery Institute and held it for a year. Since 1994 Spallone was a clinical professor of neurosurgery at the University of Rome Tor Vergata.
Then in 2005 Aldo served as a consultant of neurosurgeon at Clinical Nuova of Latina. Since 2005, he has been a head of clinical neurosciences department at the Neurological Center of Latium.
Spallone is best known for his publications such as "Lately-Occurring Stroke following Glioma Surgery: Report of a Case and Review of the Literature", "Subependymoma of septum pellucidum presenting with cough and exertional headache: A case report of spontaneous regression after incomplete surgical removal", "Massive Lumbar Disk Herniation Following "Therapeutic" Water Boiling of the Lower Extremities: Case Report and Literature Review" and others.
