Aleksander Petrovich graduated from the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of the University of Warsaw (1899).
Since 1899, Aleksander Petrovich worked as a Senior Laboratory Assistant at Warsaw Polytechnic Institute, since 1907 was an assistant, assistant professor of the department of Physics at Don Polytechnic Institute (Novocherkassk), since 1908 again at Warsaw Polytechnic Institute, since 1911 was an assistant professor, professor of the department of physics, dean of the faculty of physics and mathematics, Rector of Tomsk State University (1918-1921).
In 1922-1924 he was a professor at Rostov State University. In the years 1924-1934 was a professor, head of the department of physics at Voronezh State University, and professor of the department of physics at Voronezh Agricultural Institute at the same time.
Aleksander Petrovich Pospelov was married and had three children.
