DANILEVSKIY, Aleksandr was born on December 10, 1839 in Khar’kov.
1860 graduate Medical Faculty, khar’kov University.
1863-1871 professor of medical chemistry, Kazan' University. 1871 resigned with other professors in protest against dismissal of Professor P.F.Lesgaft. 1871-1885 worked mostly abroad, inter alia with R.Wirchow and East. Du Bois Reymond.
1886-1892 professor of physiological chemistry, Khar’kov University. 1892-1906 professor, 1906-1910 director, Saint St. Petersburg Military Medical Academy. Founded first Russian school of biochemistry.
Established chairs of physiological chemistry at Kazan' and Khar’kov university and Saint St. Petersburg Military Medical Academy. Did research on the chemistry of digestion, protein chemistry and the physiology of the nervous system. While still a student did research on "Natural and Artificial Pancreatic Juices with Specific Functions,” a subject on which he subsequently wrote his doctor’s thesis.
Discovered the formation of plasteins from the reaction of abomasal ferment with the products of the peptic digestion of proteins. Also studied gastric autodigestion, the content of antiferments in the intestinal wall, the nature of muscle protein and the chemical composition of the haptogenous membrane of milk globules. Was first to obtain amilasc and trypsin front the pancreas by selective absorption with colloidal particles.
Proved colloidal nature ol ferments. Proved experimentally that the reaction of pancreatic juice with proteins is a hydrolytic reaction as a result of which the proteins are converted into peptones. 1886 demonstrated reversibility of this process by synthesizing protein from peptones by fermentation.
Developed method of obtaining the basic muscle protein myosin. Did research on liver, kidney and brain protein. Proposed globulinstromin-nuclcin classification for protein components.
Devised first sci classification of brain proteins. 1888 devised original theory on structure of protein molecules. Also studied relation of various protein components among themselves and to other substances in the cytoplasm of the living cell.
1901 detected presence of antipepsin and antitrypsin in the gastric and intestinal tissue which prevent autodigestion. 1888-1891, together with his brother, published first Russian physiology journal Fiziologicheskiy sbornik. Chairman, Russian Army Food Review Commission.

Marxism–Leninism as the only truth could not, by its very nature, become outdated.
