Made geological surveys of the Transbaykal and Kir steppe. Made systematic study of the geology of the Caucasus and supervised the compilation of a general geological map of this region. Was one of first geologists to correlate the development of tectonic folding to manifestations of vulcanism in the Caucasus.
Did many years of research on the Mineral’nyye Vody region and igneous rocks of the Caucasus.
