Murzhenko, Aleksei was born in 1942 in Lozovaia in the Ukraine.


Arrested in Moscow, 1962, for membership of an unofficial students’ circle. Sentenced to 6 years in the Gulag camps. Took part in the Leningrad hijacking attempt with E. Kuznetsov and others, 1970.

Sentenced to 14 years in the camps. Released, 1984. Re-arrested, 1985, and sentenced to another 2 years. His letters from the camps have been published in samizdat and later abroad.
