Aleksey KOSTYAKOV, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Agronomist. specialist in soil improvement; professor from 1919; Honorary Sciences and Technical Worker of Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic from 1936. Order of Lenin; two Stalin Prizes (1951, 1952);othcr orders and medals. correspondent member, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Sciences from 1933; member, All-Union Lenin Academy of Agric Sciences from 1935.
Education
1912 graduate Moscow Agric Institute.
Career
From 1919 professor, Timiryazev Agric Academy, Moscow. From 1930 professor, Moscow Institute of Water Management. Pioneered experimental research on soil improvement techniques in Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics and developed their theoretical basis.
Devised and introduced several irrigation techniques involving the use of temporary irrigation ditches.
