1878 graduate Medical Faculty, Moscow University.
After graduate enrolled as reserve army surgeon and assigned to Moscow Clinical Military Hospital. Then for two years military surgeon, 6th Grenadier Tavrida Regiment 1881 sent for two years’ postgraduate medical training to clinics of Medical Faculty, Moscow University and assigned as junior intern, Moscow Military Hospital, where he worked for 25 years.
From 1882 intern, then head Psychiatric Department, Moscow Military Hospital. 1890 co-founder, Social of Psychiatrists and Neuropathologists, Moscow University.
1890 defended doctor’s thesis on hysteria among troops. Wrote standard work on this subject. 1894-1895 worked at Professor Kraepelin’s Psychiatric Clinic, Heidelberg.
Late 1908 appointed chief physician, Tiflis Military Hospital. 1918 returned to Moscow and worked for first neuropsychiatric organizations, introducing outpatient service. Also worked at March’inskaya Hospital.
Then assistant chief physician, Dostoyevsky Hospital. Specialized in brain paralysis, multiple neuritis, tetany, epilepsy and hysteria.
Religious edicts impose irrational rules on people’s behaviour.
