This anthology is a compendium of oral teachings based primarily on Kyabjey Pabongka's A Personal Gift for Being Utterly Freed and Tzongkapa's A Grand Presentation of the Graded Paths of the Mind. It includes many traditional anecdotes and guideline instructions from Kyabjey Trijamg Dorjechang, the late Junior Tutor to His Holiness the Fourteenth Dalai Lama. In this volume, complete instructions are given on how to approach spiritual training and best prepare for building up beneficial habits of the mind. The techniques are outlined for developing a whole-hearted commitment to a fully qualified spiritual mentor, and then on that basis, how to take the essence of a precious human life.

Mahamudra, the great sealing nature, refers to systems of meditation on both the conventional and ultimate natures of the mind. These have been transmitted through the Kagyu, Sakya, and Gelug traditions of Tibetan Buddhism. Within the Gelug, Mahamudra teachings occur in a combined Gelug/Kagyu tradition exemplified in the First Panchen Lama's Root Text for the Precious Gelug/Kagyu Tradition of Mahamudra. The work presented here contains two brilliant commentaries by the Dalai Lama.
