After military service in the Caucasus (1840-1846) Alexander Petrovich was the manager of the estate of L.K. Naryshkin in the Volga region, he tried to make the life of peasants easier.
Alexander Petrovich has twice married: the first wife died in 1854 during childbirth; from the second, Elizabeth Alexandrovna Arnoldi. They had a son, Alexander.
