Alexey Vladimirovich graduated from school in the city of Voronezh, studied at the veterinary college. He graduated from the studio at the Leningrad Drama Theater named after A.S. Pushkin (1929, course of Yu.M. Yuriev).
In 1929-1936 Alexey Vladimirovich worked in the theaters of Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg). In 1936-1991, he became an artist of the Leningrad Comedy Theater (now The Nikolay Akimov Saint Petersburg Comedy Theatre), on whose stage he played more than 100 roles, among them are: Antonio ("Twelfth Night" by William Shakespeare), Borzikov ("Lev Gurych Sinichkin" by Dmitry Timofeevich Lensky), Shpekin ("The Examiner", Nikolai Vasilyevich Gogol), Doctor, Wizard ("Shadow" and "Ordinary Miracle" by Evgeny Lvovich Schwartz), Presenter ("Don Juan" by George Byron), The Naked King ("Andersen's Tales") and others.
