Medical Officer Eastern Telegraph Company’s cable ships, “John Pender,” “Great Northern,” “Duplex,” 1890. Assisted in special deepsea survey off mouth of Congo in firstnamed ship. Resident Medical Officer to Company’s Station, Zanzibar, 1894.
Assisted in despatch from Mombasa of Sir Gerald Portal’s expedition to Uganda, 1893. Present at bombardment of Zanzibar, 1896. Received decoration of Hamoudieh Order, 3rd Class, for services thereat and to His (or Her) Highness the Sultan.
Deputed by the Govt, to convey to German territory Seyyid Khalid the usurper’s mother, son, and household, 1897. Conducted for 4 months’ tour through South Africa His (or Her) Highness the Sultan of Zanzibar, when Prince Seyyid Ali, 1898. Special Plague Medical Officer in epidemic on Uganda Railway, 1902.
