Li Luther C. S. graduated from the Government Law School in Yunnan and the Union Lutheran Theological Seminary in Hubei.
Mr. Li served as a judge in the High Court of Yunnan in 1910. In 1912 he was appointed chief-of-staff and commissary to the Revolutionary Army in Yunnan. Li Luther C. S. was a principal of Taohwalun Middle School, Yiyang, Hunan. He taught at the Lutheran Theological Seminary, Hebei, and the Nanjing Theological Seminary, Nanjing and the Customs College, Shanghai. He was an editor of the Lutheran Weekly and of the Shining Light published by the Christian Literature Society from 1918 till 1928. Mr. Li was one of the commentators of the new commentaries of the New Testament of the Christian Literature Society.
Li Luther C. S. assisted Dr. Donald MacGillivary in writing "New Commentaries on the Gospel of St. Matthew and St. John". He served as a professor of philosophy, religion, law, and Chinese Literature at Soochow University, 1931-1933. Later Mr. Li was an acting head and professor of the Chinese Department at Fujian Normal University, Fuzhou, Fujian.
