Achievements

• • Established Polar Remote Sensing laboratory at NCAOR with latest computing facilities (high end workstations and advanced BIG data processing software) for internship students, and Ph. D. /MSc./ M. Tech. students
  
  • As a member of 26th Indian Scientific Expedition to Antarctica in 2006-07, operationalized collection of eXpandable CTD data during voyage along Cape Town- Prydz Bay- India Bay – Cape Town ship route aboard a cargo ship (without stopping the ship).
  
  • As a member of 9th Arctic Expedition to Ny-Alsund, Svalbard in 2015 sampled debris and recorded of in-situ spectra using portable spectroradiometer on different glacier surfaces for validation of satellite data.
  
  • Pioneered research activity using satellite and field data in Dronning Maud Land and Larsemann Hills. Specialized in generation of high resolution Digital Elevation Model for Antarctic ice with improved accuracy using indigenous and international satellites, derived Antarctic lake bathymetry/geometry and features using WorldView-2, carried out cryospheric surface classification using multispectral images and semiautomatic and normalized difference snow/water/vegetation indices, interferometry techniques for deducing surface glacier velocity/mass balance.
