Educated Oskaloosa College (now Drake U.) and Central U., Pella, Iowa (A.M., 1888). Served private and corporal, 47th Iowa Infantry. Legal education at Keokuk, Iowa.
Admitted to Iowa bar, 1866. Appointed judge 1st Judicial District, Iowa, 1895. At end of term went to Binghamton, New York, to take charge of corporate interests as legal counsel.
