Dinda received a Doctor of Medicine and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from All India Institute of Medical Sciences in 1991.
Dinda began his career as a junior resident in pathology at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in 1984. Two years later he took a position of research associate and an assistant professor of pathology in 1993 at the same institute. Then in 1998, he became an associate professor at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences. Nowadays Amit is a professor of the department of pathology and an officer in-charge of the division of renal at that university.
He is actively involved in several projects related to nanoparticle mediated drug delivery, antigen and DNA delivery system. Dinda is working in the area of nano-cell biology to understand nanoparticle and cellular interaction. Also he is in the editorial committee of 12 National-International journals. In addition, he was a visiting professor in Albert Einstein Institute of Medical Sciences in 2004-2005 and at the University of New South Wales in 2008.
Dinda is a founding secretary of Indian Society of Nanomedicine. He was a president of Indian Society of Renal & Transplant Pathology, Society for Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine and Electron Microscopy Society of India.
On February 14, 1992 Amit Dinda married Ratnaboli Ghorai. They have 2 children.
