He is the former Chief Executive Officer of the technology website AnandTech, which he started in 1997, and served as its editor-in-chief from 1997 to 2014. He is a graduate of William G. Enloe GT/IB Center for the Humanities, Sciences, and the Arts and North Carolina State University with a degree in Computer Engineering. AnandTech grew from a small GeoCities website in 1997 to a 50 million page view per month publication as of July 2005.

He was one of the keynote speakers at Computex 2003 as a celebrity speaker to entice show goers to return to Taiwan even in the wake of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome.
