Andre Giroux

Andre Giroux was born on December 10, 1916 in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada to the family of Théophile Giroux and Heloise Devilliers.

Education

Andre Giroux graduated from Université Laval as Bachelor of Arts.

Career

After graduating Giroux held a number of government posts in Quebec: publicist and secretary for the Department of Industry and Commerce (1945-1963), educational advisor and information director to the Quebec mission in Paris (1963-1966), and director-general of the Department of Cultural Affairs (1965-1977). A bureaucrat by day, Giroux spent his off-hours churning out award-winning literature. Giroux died following an automobile accident on July 24, 1977.

Achievements

• Giroux as a writer managed to achieve critical acclaim and recognition not only from the followers but also from authorities which were expressed by a number of state awards.
