Apprentiship in Interior Design, Chur, 1955—1959. Degree in Interior Architecture, Kunstgewerbeschule, Zurich, Switzerland, 1960—1961.
Upon completion of his apprenticeship in interior design and studies in the Kunstgewerbeschule in Luzern and Zurich, he received practical experience in Europe with one of Zurich"s leading interior design firms before moving to the United States in 1962. Staffelbach was inducted into the International Interior Design Hall of Fame in 1988. In 2009, Staffelbach celebrated his 70th birthday while cycling the length of the Tour de France.
Served with Swiss Army, 1959-1962. Member International Interior Design Association (national president 1975-1977, Distinguished Merit award 1987), National Council Interior Design Qualification (county 1981-1983, national president 1984), American Society Interior Designers (Designer of Distinction 1995).
