Kistiakovskii, Andrei was born in 1936 in Moscow.


Graduated from Moscow University, 1974.


Translator of English literature. Translated Arthur Koestler’s Darkness At Noon into Russian. Also, Faulkner, Snow, O’Connor, Pound, and Tolkien.

Became involved in dissident activity in the late 1970s. Involved with the Russian Public Fund of Help to Political Prisoners’ Families, financed by A. Solzhenitsyn. Under Committee for State Security surveillance, much troubled by the authorities.
