Gastón studied at San Calixto School in La Paz, Bolivia. He was a student of the Colegio de la Recoleta in Lima, Peru. He studied at San Marcos University in Lima, Peru.
Gastón worked as an assistant at the Bolivian legation in Peru in 1909. In a year he became an assistant at the Bolivian legation in Paraguay. Since 1913 he was a private secretary and the President of Bolivia. In 1917 Gastón became the first secretary of legation in London, United Kingdom. In 1922 he was an administrator of the Hacienda Ingahuasi. In 1931 he became a National deputy. In four years Gastón became a Prefect of the Department of Chuquisaca. Since 1936 he was a Minister in London, United Kingdom. In 1941 he became a National senator.
Gastón married to Maria Elvira Tavolara. They have three children: Ricardo Gastón Roberto Mujia, Carlos Fernando Javier Mujia and Ricardo Mujia Tavolara.
