Andrey Nikolaevich BELOZERSKY


Andrey BELOZERSKY, USSR Biochemist. Professor; Doctor of Biological Science; Director,Department of Plant Biochemistry, Moscow University, since 1946; corresponding member, USSR Academy of Science, since 1958.


BELOZERSKY, Andrey was born in 1905.


1927 graduated Biology Department, Physico-Mathematical Faculty, Central Asian University, Tashkent. 1927-1930 postgraduate course in plant physiology.


1930-1946 assist, then lecturer,Department of Plant Biochemistry, Moscow University. Co-Editor, “Chemistry” section, “Bolshaya meditsinskaya entsiklopediya” (Large Medical Encyclopedia), 2nd edition. Member, Editor Council, journals “Voprosy meditsinskoy khimii” (Problems of Medical Chemistry) and “Antibiotiki” (Antibiotics), etc.

Works deal with: presence of common proteins in nucleoproteids. Nucleic acids and proteins. Changes in the nucleic acid content of bacteria in different phases and under the influence of antibiotics.
