In 1784, the Voronkov family moved to Saint Petersburg, where Andrey Ivanovich served as a chorister of the Church of the Smolensk cemetery. He lived with his brother, a Church Minister who took care of him and wrote down his poems. Samples of Voronkov's poetry are small fragments of his prose poem Paradise Returned, two extensive poems Hymn of the blind man and For the new year 1818.
