Andy Bellin was born on July 4, 1968, in New York City, New York, United States. He is a son of model Countess Christina Bellin and plastic surgeon Doctor Howard Bellin.
Andy Bellin started to play poker seriously when he attended graduate school in 1992. He was studying physics and astronomy at Vassar College. He dropped out of the studies, shortly before he expected to flunk out, to play professional poker.
After giving up astronomy, Andy Bellin played semi-pro poker for several years. Then drew upon his experiences to write "Poker Nation," a semi-autobiographical book, published in 2002.
From 1995 to 1998, he was the editor of Paris Review, New York. He also wrote articles for Esquire, Details, and Maxim, then branched into scriptwriting for TV and movies.
He set up Matthew McConaughey movies and Cameron Diaz movies at Fox, and sold various pilots to networks. Even though he was paid handsomely for his scripts, none of the movies were produced, and none of the pilots were picked up as series. Enter David Schwimmer, former star of the long-running Friends sitcom and, perhaps more importantly, a budding feature filmmaker. Andy Bellin said about it: "There's a very tight network of guys in L.A. - where I was living at the time - who played poker together, and Schwim was a poker buddy. And he somehow came across this script that I'd written for Cameron Diaz at Fox. He read it, and thought it was very unexpected. So he approached me, and said, "I've been trying to make this project work for, like, five years. Can you think about it?" That project - which Bellin did indeed think about, and eventually wrote for Schwimmer to direct - was "Trust" (2010), a harrowing drama about a 14-year-old girl who's targeted by a seductive online predator, and eventually sweet-talked into a hotel-room encounter. It was produced as a play before making it to the big screen.
His other film, "Lovelace" (2013), is a biographical drama film about porn actress Linda Lovelace, which covers her life from age 20 to 32.
In 2017, Andy Bellin has been signed by director and producer Michael Bay to adapt the action thriller "Drone Warrior," based on the book of the same name from author and Pulitzer Prize-winning Wall Street Journal writer Christopher S. Stewart. The project, which is about a small group of elite soldiers, is set up at Paramount Pictures.
Bellin has several projects. His screenplay "Think Aaron," an HBO drama produced by Tribeca and Eric Roth, is currently out to directors, and his New York, New York teleplay is set up at Paramount Television with John Krasinki.
Andy Bellin is currently writing the script for the Phil Ivey movie - "The Baccarat Machine" - starring Nora Lum as Cheung Yin "Kelly" Sun.

2002As an ex poker player, Andy Bellin considers, that this game is much more than numbers and odds: players must become memory experts and learn how to read unconscious signals - known as "tells" - given off by other players; they must know how to bluff, cheat, and strategize.
Quotations: "The worst part about my fame is that I'm not famous."
When award season begins after the film "Lovelace," Andy Bellin checked his ego at the door and, instead, credited the talented cast. When Bellin isn't "putting a gun to head and forcing" himself write, the New York resident and his wife can be found in their sweats or enjoying brunch at Upper East haunts such as Boulud or the Carlyle Tea Room. In 2013, when asked what's next for this budding talent, Bellin answered, "I'm not sure, but after writing movies about sexual predators and pornography, I'm hoping that whatever it is, it's a touch more jaunty."
Andy Bellin has been married to Katherine Lane Farish Criner since February 24, 2006. They have two sons.
