Andy Moses was born in 1962 in Los Angeles, California, United States. He is a son of a painter Ed Moses.
Andy Moses entered the California Institute of the Arts in 1979. Michael Asher, John Baldessari, and Barbara Kruger were among his teachers. He graduated four years later with a Master of Fine Arts degree.
The start of Andy Moses’s career can be counted from the early 1980s. In 1981, his first solo exhibition was organized at the California Institute of the Arts Valencia. The same year, he relocated to New York City and worked for a while for an artist Pat Steir. It was during this time when Moses elaborated on his unique style based on the form of canvas and the chemical interaction of paints. The results of his experiments with the shape, light, and color were demonstrated at his debut solo show in the city at Annina Nosei Gallery in 1987.
Since then, Andy Moses has shown around the United States, including the exhibitions at Laguna Art Museum, New Orleans’ Contemporary Arts Center, and Riverside Art Museum. In 2000, the artist came back to Los Angeles where he continues to develop the vocabulary of his colorful abstract canvases.

Quotations: "All the work I've ever done has always been about interacting with natural processes and then reacting to what those natural processes do. So it's a constant back-and-forth process until the painting is finished."
Andy Moses is married to an artist Kelly Berg.
