(Ann Hazard's third Baja book, Agave Sunsets, is a collect...)
Ann Hazard's third Baja book, Agave Sunsets, is a collection of 50 stories that are guaranteed to transport you to magical places south of the border and introduce you to characters you’ll never forget. This book is guaranteed to implant in you un corazon Mexicano--a Mexican heart. The tales span four generations, beginning in the 1890s when Ann’s grandfather fell in love with this incredible peninsula. Each one has a color photograph. Here are a few: "Hat Parties, Chili Cook-offs and Friday Nights at Gordos," "Boys ‘n Beer in Baja," "Dirt Roads in the Dark," "Squatting in an Abandoned House with Four Teenagers," "The Cure for Boof Burnout," "Hussongs - Birthplace of the Margarita," "The Magic of Movie Making South of the Border," "Stumbling Upon a Stairway to Heaven," "Sitting on the Edge of the Bay," "Saving Baja Dogs and Cats," "I’ve Got Todos Santos on my Mind" and "Following the Whale Trail."

(Cooking With Baja Magic Dos is a must have for all Baja A...)
Cooking With Baja Magic Dos is a must have for all Baja Aficionados! All 175 recipes from the original cookbook have been updated and improved. There are 80 new recipes and stories about Ann and her husband Terry's adventures over the last eight years. The all-new art by Janna Kinkade (cover), Gayle Hazard and Terry Hauswirth is pure magic. If you were one of the thousands who bought and loved the first Cooking With Baja Magic, you will be swept away by Ann's newest book! Ann says: The original Cooking With Baja Magic was published in 1997 and reflected my life and travels up to that point. In the intervening years, I have had the opportunity to further explore this magnificent peninsula and meet some amazing people. In 2003, my husband Terry and I sold our houses in San Diego and La Bufadora and moved to Buena Vista, midway between La Paz and Cabo San Lucas on the Sea of Cortez. Since then, we have traveled extensively and learned much about our adopted country. The life here suits us perfectly.I always felt more at home in Mexico than in the US and for years I pondered why. Now I know. I now know that my heart is Mexican. Mi corazan es Mexicano. That is why I am here and I believe that because I am in Baja, the experiences I share now in Baja Magic Dos are more authentic. I have also added 80 new recipes ,some that I have created, many that I have discovered and several that were given to me by talented Baja chefs. There are lots more surprises too and more stories, all new art, and more historical and culinary information. There are now 50 restaurant recipes from 31 Baja eateries and two from our favorite US Mexican restaurants. New recipes from old favorites from the first Baja Magic include Tao Pablo's in Los Barriles, Pancho's in Cabo, Caffa Todos Santos and the Buena Vista Beach Resort. Eighteen of Baja's hottest hotels, restaurants and bars are contributing for the first time here. They are: Hussongs and Taqueria Mexico (Ensenada), Pueblo Bonito (Cabo), Posada la Poza and Hotel California (Todos Santos), El Chilar, Hotel Tropicana, Brisas del Mar and Buzzard's (San Jose del Cabo), El Corral and Rancho Buena Vista (Buena Vista), Tacos Los Barriles (Los Barriles), Raya's Place (Mulege), Isla Loreto (Loreto), Mr. Azucar's (La Paz) and the Giggling Marlin (Baha de los Sueos). The chef on the Spirit of Endeavor, a small cruise ship that sails between Cabo, La Paz and Loreto shared a recipe. Her favorite stateside Mexican restaurants, Las Olas (in her former hometown of Cardiff, CA) and Chapala (in her current summer hometown of McCall, ID) also inspired recipes. As you browse through the book, reading the stories and recipes, before you know it your mouth will be watering, your shoes will be off and your toes will be tapping. Crank up some tunes. Cast off the cares of our crazy world and imagine yourself in a simpler, gentler place and a place of endless empty hills, sunny skies and see-through aquamarine water teeming with tropical fish. You have been transported to Baja. Tonight you are serving dinner under a palapa by the Sea of Cortez. Tonight you are celebrating life with people you love!

(**2015 Gold Digital Award winner from Independent Book Pu...)
**2015 Gold Digital Award winner from Independent Book Publishers of America** This is one of the best books available about life for both expat residents and natives in villages and cities across Mexico. What sets it apart from most other books about living in Mexico is that it's a literary collection of short stories and essays, full of insights by contemporary authors who write and live full time in Mexico or who have spent a lot of time living in the country. The superb collection contains twenty two works, all but five from authors who live full time in the country. Their writing spans a variety of topics; many contributions extol life in Mexico's abundant sunlight while others examine what the shadows sometimes obscure. It's a sampler of sorts, with active hyperlinks for more information about the authors and their other writing. The anthology contains complete chapters from books and also single pieces from internationally-acclaimed authors and emerging writers: Bruce Berger, E.G. Brady, Ann Hazard, Michael Hogan, Jim Johnston, William Kaliher, Janice Kimball, Judy King, Jeanine Kitchel, David Lida, C.M. Mayo, Carol M. Merchasin, Mikel Miller, Katie O'Grady, Antonio Rambles, Daniel Reveles, Robert Richter, Lin Robinson & Ana Maria Corona, John Scherber, Jennifer Stace, James Tipton, and Candelora Versace. Perhaps the best way to gain valuable insights about the day-to-day life of people in a foreign country is to read good books by authors living and/or writing in that country. The purpose of this book is to identify several writers who can help readers accomplish this for Mexico. Enjoy!
