Career
She was born in Kilmartin, Argyllshire, Scotland on 4 November 1862. In 1921, she was elected onto Wellington City Council, the first woman in the city council"s history. She was one of four candidates in the 1922 election in the Wellington East and came last, with 4% of the vote.
