Anthony Ratcliffe, British research biochemist. Achievements include focused research on proteoglycan and cartilage biochemistry and orthopaedic science; development of biochemical markers of joint disease, increased understanding of the biochemical mechanisms of joint disease, characterization and investigation of cartilage proteoglycan gene structure and regulation, and tissue engineering of cartilage and other tissues.
