Anton Stankevich, USSR Military commander.


Stankevich, Anton was born on June 25, 1862 in the estate of Gubino, now kolkhoz Oktiabr, near Vitebsk. Son of a nobleman.


Graduated from the Wilno Infantry Military School, 1880.


During World War I, commander of a regiment, then a brigade, later a division. During the October Revolution 1917, joined the Bolsheviks. In 1919, Commander of the 42nd and the 55th Rifle Divisions ofthe 13th Army on the Southern front.

Was taken prisoner at Zolotarevo near Orel by a White Army regiment and hanged as a traitor. Later reburied at the Kremlin wall on Red Square.


Religion is a cause of numerous conflicts and bloody wars throughout the history of mankind.


The emphasis on peaceful coexistence doesn’t mean that the Soviet Union accepted a static world with clear lines. Socialism is inevitable and the "correlations of forces" were moving towards socialism.
