The law offices were started in Concepción (Former Capital) by Antonio Urrutia y Mendiburu"s brother-in-law, Juan Martinez de Rozas, in 1795. Juan Martinez de Rozas was the intellectual leader of the Chilean independence and Vice President of the first Chilean independent government.
