Background
Very little is known about his life. He was born in the province of Caria, in Asia Minor. His brother, Tauriscus, was also a sculptor. They were the sons of Artemidor of Thrall, were adopted by the Rhodian Menekratom.

Very little is known about his life exept he flourished in the 2nd century BCE.
With his brother Tauriscus, he executed the marble group known as the Farnese Bull, representing Zethus and Amphion tying the revengeful Dirce to the tail of a wild bull.
Today it is in the National Archaeological Museum in Naples.
Apollonius Of Tralles was a Greek, known for his work in collaboration with his brother Tauriscus of a marble group known as the “Farnese Bull. ” The work represented Zethus and Amphion, the twin builders of Thebes, tying their stepmother, Dirce, to the horns of a wild bull in punishment for her torment of their mother, Antiope.
