Arthur Quintin Adamson was born on October 5, 1881, in Ankeny, Iowa, United States. Jane Kellum was Adamson's mother and Enos Adamson was his father. In December 1909 Adamson came to China. Most of his life he lived and worked in Shanghai.

He studied at Ackworth Academy, Iowa State College, Columbia University. In 1921 Arthur Quintin attended summer course.
Career
