Dewing got education at Taunton School (Taunton, Somerset, England). Also, he was an undergraduate of London University.
From 1915 till 1919 Dewing was on war service (Navy); he served as a signalman. Starting from May, 1921 Arthur George served in Volunteer Corps Service (Field Artillery Battery). Also, he worked as a lecturer at the School of Accountancy in Glasgow.
