Arthur Stanton

Background

Stanton was born in Bloxwich, Staffordshire.

Career

He played for Bloxwich Strollers before joining Birmingham in April 1913 as cover at full back. Described as a solid, powerful defender who lacked pace, Stanton did not play for the club during the First World War, and returned to local football with Oldbury in 1918.

Achievements

• He made his debut in the Second Division on 3 January 1914, deputising for Frank Womack at left back in a home game against N ottinghamshire County which Birmingham won 2–1.
