Ashok Kumar Nagpal is an Indian mechanical engineer and industrial manager known for his long career with Wimco Ltd., where he held multiple leadership roles across India and served as general manager in Ambarnath. He is a recipient of the Bharat Udyog Award from the Institute of Economic Studies, New Delhi (1992).
Education
He earned a degree in mechanical engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur in 1966. He later pursued management education, receiving a diploma in finance management from Punjabi University in 1974 and a diploma in marketing management from Panjab University in 1979.
Career
agpal began his career in 1967 as an engineer trainee at Oriental Rubber Industries Ltd. in Bombay, gaining early experience in industrial production and engineering operations. In the same year, he joined Wimco Ltd. in Bareilly as an engineer trainee and quickly progressed through a series of technical and managerial roles.
Between 1967 and 1973, he advanced within Wimco Ltd. to the position of production manager, overseeing manufacturing processes and operational efficiency. From 1973 to 1980, he served as area sales manager in Bareilly, transitioning into commercial operations and market development.
He was appointed regional marketing manager in Bombay from 1980 to 1982, where he handled regional sales strategy and distribution. From 1982 to 1986, he served as resident manager in Bilaspur, managing local operations and administrative functions. He then continued as regional marketing manager in Bhopal from 1986 to 1988, followed by his role as business manager in Madras from 1988 to 1989, where he oversaw broader business activities.
From 1989 to 1990, he worked as regional marketing manager in Calcutta, further strengthening his expertise in regional markets. In 1990, he was appointed general manager of Wimco Ltd. in Ambarnath, a senior leadership position in which he directed operations and contributed to the company’s industrial and commercial performance.

Membership
Nagpal has been active in professional and civic organizations, including the Rotary Club District 3140 in Ambarnath (since 1995). He is also a member of the Kalyan Ambarnath Manufacturers Association, the New Bombay Sports Association, and the Citibank Diners Club.
Connections
He married Manisha Mehra on July 3, 1972. They have three children: Atika, Anika, and Ashita.
