Ayahiko Ishibashi was born in 1852.
After graduating from Kobu Daigaku College of Engineering (precursor of Tokyo University) proceeded to England for further studies for a period of three years.
Returning home after England Ayahiko Ishibashi entered government service and distinguished himself in building lighthouses and buoys during the Sino-Japanese and Russo-Japanese wars. Built the Yoshida Bridge in Yokohama, the first reinforced concrete bridge in Japan (1908). Became director of Koshu Gakko (engineering college) in 1910.
