Ayse Wilson was born on April 8, 1969, in Turkey.
Ayse Wilson graduated from Wellesley College in 1991. Then, she went to Florence and pursued her training as a classical painter.
In 2004, Wilson received her Master of Fine Arts degree at the Painting Department of the New York Academy of Art.
Ayse Wilson started her career after graduating from the New York Academy of Art. For several years, she assisted a painter Jeff Koons in working on large-scale photo-realistic paintings. Her first solo show took place in 2007 in Istanbul. Since then, the artist has exhibited throughout Turkey and the United States.
Nowadays, Wilson lives and works in New York City where she has founded the Wilson + Geary Contemporary pop-up gallery to represent her art. In Turkey, Wilson’s art is represented by Istanbul’s PG Art Gallery.
In 2017, Ayse Wilson took part in the Dallas Art Fair. Geary Contemporary gallery hosted the recent solo exhibitions of the artist in 2016 and 2019.
Ayse Wilson finds inspiration for her works in her own imagination and in the art of early Italian Renaissance masters such as Fra Angelico.
