Becky Young earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1961 from the Rhode Island School of Design, Providence.
Since 1975 Becky Young has been on the faculty of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, and in 1976 she also taught at the University City Arts League in Philadelphia.
From 1964 to 1967 Becky Young belonged to the faculty of the Boston Center for Adult Education, and from 1961 to 1964 she was an assistant to Harry Callahan at Rhode Island School of Design.
Becky Young has photographed the nude since 1967, first in black-and-white and recently in color. Originally she defined nudes "classically as pure form," she says, but her newer work "transcends surface realities and captures the private selves of women and men alone or interacting with others in their environment."
