Behrooz Astaneh graduated in medicine from Shiraz University of Medical Sciences.
He then continued his studies on medical Journalism at university of Westminster in London, United Kingdom. He is the pioneer of designing specific academic training courses for medical editors. His reputation is also because of presenting more than 500 workshops on various aspects of editorship and publication ethics at the national and international level He is the vice president of EMAME and the vice president of the Iranian Society of Medical Editors.
He has also focused on disseminating the essentials of publication ethics among regional editors and is the first Iranian Council member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (Committee on Publication Ethics).
