Bernie Blackall was born on April 6, 1956, in Murchison, Victoria, Australia; the son of William and Catherine Blackall.

Education

Bernie Blackall earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in physical and outdoor education.

Career

Bernie was appointed as a department head of the Ministry of Education in Australia in 1979. He worked there for 10 years and in 1990 became a department head of Xavier College. In 1998 Blackall founded Camp Endeavour, a children’s holiday adventure program in Australia. From 1975 to 1985 he was a certified navy diver.

Bernie Blackall enjoys participating in sports. As a natural extension of these activities, he has written more than two dozen books about sports and outdoor activities. In his books about popular sports, Blackall offers readers picture-book length titles that include full-color and black-and-white photographs, and diagrams that show warm-up positions, skills, and diagrams of playing fields. Each title in this series presents rudimentary information on a sport, such as basic rules and skills. These books have been adapted for sale in Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States, each with a brief history of the sport and highlights of the careers of sports stars from the country where the book is to be marketed.
