Career
Interior, 1957; banded over 60,000 wild birds of 186 different species. Special ornithological research on shorebirds, hummingbirds and blackbirds. Other varied research in bird banding.
Established extensive wildflower preserve and rhododendron gardens at home.
Engaged in propagation rare native wildflowers donating same to public arboretums, preserves and sanctuaries. Volunteer teacher, cons, on conservation and nature study, 1948.
Active many local, state, national conservation issues. Responsible for sav. wilderness areas threatened with destruction and now preserved as part of State Park Lands.
Organizer nation-wide Project South.N.A.P. to salvage threatened native plants and replant them for educational and civic purposes.
