Bill Myers was born in Seattle, Washington on September 9, 1953. He was raised in a Christian family, who moved to the Cascade Mountains when he was ten. He spent a lot of his time wandering the forests and basically enjoyed being a country kid. He didn't like reading much, but he did like sports, music and acted in a lot of school plays. Most of his life he planned to grow up and be a dentist.
Myers received his education at the University of Washington. He also attended the Italian State Institute for Cinema and Television.
Myers also holds an honorary doctorate from the Theological Institute of Nimes, France.
During his career, Myers worked variously as an actor on stage and screen; writer and director; voice-over narrator. He began writing and directing several independent films after graduation from the Italian State Institute for Cinema and Television. Later he began to write best selling books and novels for children, teens, and adults in the inspirational market.
Currently, Myers works as a freelance writer, living in California.
As an author, screenwriter and director Myers' works have won over 60 national and international awards, including the C.S. Lewis Honor Award. His DVDs and books have sold 8 million copies. His children's DVD and book series, McGee and Me, has sold 4.5 million copies, has won 40 Gold and Platinum awards, and has been aired on ABC as well as in 80 countries. His My Life As… book series has sold 2.1 million copies. He has written, directed, and done voice work for Focus on the Family's Adventures in Odyssey radio series and is the voice of Jesus in Zondervan's NIV Audio Bible. As an author, several of his children's book series and adult novels have made the bestseller list.
Bill has also been interviewed for Good Morning America, ABC Nightly News, The 700 Club, TBN, as well as hundreds of broadcast, internet and print organizations.

2012"I was raised in a Christian family but started to get real bored with Christianity. A friend told me that's because I was only half a Christian. He said I knew all about Jesus as my Savior who died for my sins on the cross, but that didn't know anything about Him being my Lord or Boss. He said, "I bet you that if you promise always to say yes to God, regardless of how weird it may be, I bet you your life will be anything but boring."
So I took him up on it. When a girl I'd dated all through high school dumped me our first year at the University of Washington, I wandered the campus night after night until I finally told God He could be the Boss of everything in my life, that I'd do whatever He wanted regardless of how weird it was. A few weeks later I saw the third or fourth movie of my life and was so amazed at its power that I told God He had to raise people up in the film business to start doing movies for Him. I kept getting the impression that I was supposed to be one of those people.
We had quite a few arguments, but because I made that promise to always say yes to Him, I changed my major to film directing and a few weeks later found myself in Rome, Italy studying a subject I knew nothing about in a language I couldn't speak! Talk about feeling foolish. But I knew I was there because He wanted me to be."
Myers is married and has two daughters.
