Karak graduated from Darbhanga Medical College in India with his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree in 1986. He received a Diploma in Tropical Medicine & Hygiene from Darbhanga Medical College in 1991. Two years later Binay Karak graduated from Darbhanga Medical College and received a Doctor of Medicine degree. He graduated from Institute of Medical Sciences in Varanasi, India with a Doctor of Medicine degree in 1997. A year later Karak earned his degree of Doctor of Philosophy from Darbhanga Medical College.
Karak began his career as a Medical officer at Bihar State Health Service in Patna, India in 1992 and held the position for three years. Then he moved to Varanasi City and worked as a Senior resident at Institute of Medical Sciences until 1997. Since 1998, he was an Administrative officer in India. The same year he took a position of a Director of neurology clinic and neurodiagnostic center in Patna. B. Karak was a Joint secretary at Ramjee Karak Dharamsala in Madhubani from 1997 to 1998. Since 2000 Karak has been working as a Electrophysiologist at National Polio Surveillance Project in Bihar and a consultant specialist. He is the author of "Recent Advances in Pediatrics" and "Recent Advances Tropical Pediatrics" and a Contributor of articles to professional journals.
Karak is a member of Neurological India Society, Indian Academy of Neurology, American Academy of Neurology, Lions, Patna Chess Club (joint secretary, 2000-2001), Patna Sports Foundation (vice president, 1999-2000).
On June 25, 1994, Binay Karak married Sony Kumari. They have two children.
