In 1956 Blossom Turk graduated from the City University of New York and received her Bachelor of Science degree. In 1968 she earned her master’s degree in history from San Francisco State University. Also in 1978 Blossom Turk graduated from the University of Idaho and received a Doctorate degree in educational administration. She received her counselor’s certificate at (Albertson) College of Idaho.
Blossom Turk began her career at the Boise School District as a history teacher at North Junior High, 1968-1972. She worked as a teacher, counselor and vice principal at Borah High School, principal at Hillside Junior High School, and spent her last 10 years in the district as principal of Boise High School. After retiring from the Boise School District, Blossom Turk became the founding executive director of the Lee Pesky Learning Center in 1996.
For eight years, Blossom’s weekly advice column, "Talking About Kids” appeared in the pages of the Idaho Statesman.

Blossom was married to Arthur Jacob Schlanger on July 4, 1954 (divorced 1973). She has 2 sons and 4 grandchildren.
