Above all, my work focuses on the elimination of racism in American life. My guiding spirit in this work is James Baldwin, specifically the final paragraph in "Stranger in the Village," in which he says, regarding racism in America: "“the perpetual challenge posed by this problem was always, somehow, perpetually met.” I believe he is saying that here in America, hardly the only country with a history of racism, this curse of racism will be resolved by a dialectic between black and white Americans. This gives me such hope.
