Lawyer by profession. As a student, joined revol movement. Twice banished from Moscow for participating in student political movement.
After graduate university did revol work in Saint St. Petersburg, Astrakhan’, Kaluga, Baku and Khar’kov, where he played an active part in the local Social-Democratic organisation and preached Bolshevik line rallies and assemblies. Literature head, Khar’kov Vperyod (Forward) Group. Group’s representative at 3rd Russian Social-Democratic Workers’ Party Congress, where he took a rcconciliationist stand toward the Mensheviks.
During 1905 Revol member. Struggle Committee; helped to organize and direct armed revolt in Khar’kov. 1908 acquitted before a court martial on charges of membership of the Bureau of Military Revol Organisations
1910 exiled to Vologda Province. Then lived in Khar’kov. Council member, Congress of Miners.
Worked for various periodicals, including newspaper Pravda active in State Duma election campaigns. 1913-1914 head, Social-Democratic faction of Bolshevik students. After 1917 February Revol member, Petrograd Russian Social-Democratic Workers’ Party Committee.
April 1917 quit Bolsheviks and sided with platform of Menshevik newspaper Novaya zhizn' August 1917 joined SocDemocrat Internationalists. Early 1918 resigned from Internationalist Central Committee and then completely abandoned politics. Until 1928 worked for Centr Statistical Board.
From 1929 with Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic State Planning Committee. Then with Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics People's Commissariat of Means of Communication. Arrested by State Security organs.
