In 2004 he was appointed the Federal Forestry Agency deputy head. At present, he supervises scientific and technical support, international cooperation, structural transformation, main usage, property management, and investment. Academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences (2000). Present State Counsel of the Russian Federation, 2nd Class ( 11.1.2008).
