In 1957 he graduated from the Moscow Musical College,in 1962 from the Theoretical and Composing Department of the Moscow Conservatory.
As a consultant to the Voronezh organization of the Union of Composers, and a teacher at the Voronezh Music College, he supported many beginning composers. His students include composers, musicologists and performers, including members of the Union of Composers (Y.B. Romanov, D.L. Ushakov and others).
As a composer he mainly works in the genres of symphonic and chamber-instrumental music: the author of 7 symphonic poems, 3 symphonies, 3 plays on Russian folk themes,which in 1964 were recorded by M.E. Pyatnitsky. In 1988 he dedicated one of the four-string quartets to the memory of Dmitry Shostakovich. Many works were written for the orchestra of folk instruments, including the "Poem of Voronezh" (1986), "Rural Sketches" (1989), the epic picture "Bylina" (1990), 2 cycles of Academic Miniatures (1992-1993, 1995), for solo instruments (violin, clarinet, piano, flute, cello and others) and vocals.
