In 1980 Brenda received Bachelor of Arts (with honors) at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Then she studied at the University of Chicago, where she earned Master of Arts in 1984 and Doctor of Philosophy in 1987.
Brenda L. Moore started her career in the National Study of Internal Medicine Manpower as a project assistant, in 1983, and continued as a field supervisor in 1984. Then she became a researcher-consultant at the Ameritech Corporation in 1985. In 1985 - 1986 she served as an assistant survey director at the NORC Social Science Research Center. Later Brenda worked as a research assistant in Chicago Urban League, and then was a field evaluator and consultant for public schools in Chicago until 1988.
Brenda's further career was spent at the State University of New York at Buffalo, where she held the positions of an assistant professor, associate professor of sociology, and director of undergraduate studies. In 1987 - 1988 she was a visiting assistant professor at the Indiana University Northwest.
During the whole her career she also was a guest speaker at Towson State University and University of Maryland at College Park, and was invited as a guest on radio and television programs. Since 1991 Brenda was elected as a member of board of directors at the Veterans Braintrust Inc.
Currently, Brenda is a contributor of articles and reviews to journals, including Armed Forces and Society, Minerva: Quarterly Report on Women in the Military, and National Journal of Sociology.
