( This is the first volume of a two-book series that peel...)
This is the first volume of a two-book series that peels away the metaphors and explains the living tradition of Taoist meditation, which is little known or taught in the West. Most of what people know about Taoism comes from philosophical texts such as the I-Ching or the Tao Te Ching by Lao Tse. However, outside China virtually nothing is known of Lao Tse's living tradition of Taoism. Bruce Frantzis wrote this book so that this great meditation tradition might reach and inspire a wider audience. It is relevant not only to anyone interested in meditation but to anyone who wants to find out how to lessen stress, let go of negative emotions, and rediscover deeper levels of inner peace and stillness. The book includes breathing lessons that help calm your mind and relax your emotions. It also includes fascinating stories of the author’s training in China with Taoist Lineage Master and Sage, Liu Hung Chieh. Now, Frantzis gives us, in two accessible volumes, the theory and practice of the Water Method of Taoist Meditation. This tradition was originally described by Lao Tse in the Tao Te Ching over 2,500 years ago, and has been passed down from teacher to disciple in an unbroken lineage through the Taoist sage Liu Hung Chieh to the author. Relaxing Into Your Being explains the Water Method with its complete internal energy system, and teaches how to slow your breath, use more lung capacity, massage your internal organs, and develop meditative awareness. Frantzis provides tools, unique to the Water Method, to reduce stress and help maintain optimal health in today’s fast-paced computer age. This Taoist meditation series continues in volume two: The Great Stillness.

(This 1,500-year-old self-healing exercise strengthens the...)
This 1,500-year-old self-healing exercise strengthens the immune system, mitigates chronic illness, prevents and heals cancer, reduces stress and anxiety, and improves focus and well-being. Dragon and Tiger medical qigong is based on Chinese medicine's acupuncture wellness model. The practice consists of seven movements which regulate and strengthen all of the acupuncture meridians of the body. Grounded in the ancient spiritual traditions of Taoism and Buddhism, Dragon and Tiger medical qigong is known for its powerful ability to prevent and heal cancer and reduce the side effects of radiation and chemotherapy. Dragon and Tiger Medical Qigong: Volume 1 taught students the physical movements. Volume 2 teaches students how to take their practice to the next level and more effectively reap the health benefits for which this qigong practice is renowned: • Releases stagnant chi that cannot move freely due to physical, emotional, or psychic blockages of energy. • Increases the speed, strength, and evenness of the circulation of chi, blood, and other fluids, balancing the body's energy. • Quickly raises the energy levels of the body to boost its natural healing capacities. Dragon and Tiger Medical Qigong: Volume 2 teaches how to cultivate and direct the flow of qi in the body and make the feeling of qi tangible. Qi, or "internal life-force energy," is the foundation of acupuncture and all Chinese medicine. The stronger the qi moves, the greater the health benefits of qigong will be. Once the feeling of directing qi becomes tangible, the principles can be applied to other internal martial arts such as tai chi and other qigong practices such as sexual qigong. Practitioners of healing arts will find this book valuable as a means for becoming sensitive to qi energy in themselves and others. Healers will also learn how to get rid of stagnant qi buildup and thereby avoid burnout when working with other people's energy. Partial Table of Contents: Chapter 1: Maintaining Awareness Chapter 2: Exercises for Loosening Shoulder Blades, Arms, and Feet Chapter 3: Developing Hyper-Coordination in Dragon and Tiger's Movements Chapter 4: Basic Energetic Principles Chapter 5: Basic Energetic Exercises Chapter 6: Feeling the Energy Pathways in Dragon and Tiger's Movements Chapter 7: Intermediate Energetic Principles

The main focus of The Great Stillness is to explain 'Inner Dissolving' its major mediation technique that helps people overcome deeply bound negative emotions, deepen their spiritual and psychic development, and develop balance and compassion. It is one of the few books that reveals the Taoist traditions of sexual qigong, sexual meditation and the moving meditation practice called Circle Walking that was developed in Taoist monasteries over 4000 years ago. This volume advances on lessons taught in volume one: Relaxing Into Your Being.

(What is known from the Tao Te Ching, I Ching, and other T...)
What is known from the Tao Te Ching, I Ching, and other Taoist texts is almost entirely literary. When Bruce Frantzis studied these texts with his main teacher, Grandmaster Liu Hung Chieh, he was taught their practical application: “This is what they say; this is what they mean; this is how to do them.” In the TAO of Letting Go, Frantzis offers a bridge to this pragmatic approach for living a spiritual life. Spirituality is not just an aspiration for which people strive, he says, but a genuine, accomplishable reality. Frantzis shows how to expend maximum effort and yet not use force—the gentle way of the Water method—to enrich personal health and energy systems. The Water tradition continues the work of releasing inner conflicts, a process that begins with the Dissolving Method, passed down by Lao Tse in the Tao Te Ching over 2,500 years ago. The author shows how to completely let go of the blockages that bind and prevent the seeker from reaching full spiritual potential. Short, direct chapters and exercises cover such topics as breathing and awareness; Taoist meditation; fog and depression; modern anxiety; love and compassion; and more.

"Bruce Frantzis leads his readers on a journey of sensational discovery through the world of energy-generating sexuality. I am delighted to see more light brought to the world of sexual meditation." -Nicole Daedone, author of Slow Sex: The Art and Craft of the Female Orgasm "Taoist Sexual Meditation will inspire you to give and receive sexual pleasure in both ordinary and extraordinary ways. Using the powerful, time honored Taoist concepts and techniques provided, you'll master skills to gain more sensation, intimacy and delight for yourself and your partner. I highly recommend this book to anyone seeking greater satisfaction and joy in their lovemaking." -Patricia Taylor, PhD, author of Expanded Orgasm: Soar to Ecstasy at Your Lover's Every Touch Since the first waves of Eastern philosophy traveled across the sea, Westerners have been intrigued by ancient traditions such as tantra, yoga, tai chi, and martial arts. Although some aspects of Taoist sexual practices have appeared in print, until now there has been no comprehensive book on Taoist sexual meditation. The Water method of Taoist sexual meditation, as was taught by Laozi, author of the Tao Te Ching, shows us how to use dissolving meditation to relax and let go. This foundation practice ultimately gets us out of our head and into our body and the universe. Sex expands into the world of spirit, enabling us to resolve and clear energetic, emotional, and karmic blockages. With sexual meditation it is possible to access more than four times the energy of solo meditative practices. This abundance of energy can then be directed to healing and to conscious evolution. You will learn how to work with chi (energy) during sex, gain an understanding of Taoist ethics and morality, and realize the highest spiritual potential of sex as meditation. Find out how to increase sensitivity, activate your yin and yang meridians, and overcome cultural conditioning. Understand how the Chinese theory of the Five Elements can give insight into your own sexual nature and determine sexual compatibility with potential partners. An accelerated path for internal development, sexual meditation has rarely been shared outside Eastern monasteries. Encouraged by his teachers to bring these authentic practices to the West, Frantzis presents Taoist Sexual Meditation as a profound spiritual path that can heal and calm the turbulence of mind, allowing it to open to the infinite potential of the Tao.

Revolution is generally considered something external, explosive. In this book, Bruce Frantzis, renowned chi master and author, challenges readers to embark on an inner revolution to reclaim joy and happiness in life, reverse the effects of aging and release their stress and negative emotions. Chi adepts can consciously feel and work with all the acupuncture meridians, internal organs and other structures in their own bodies. Yet these are skills that most Westerners would consider to be something out of science fiction and absolutely impossible to achieve in real life. Drawing on forty years of training in ancient Chinese practices, Frantzis provides readers with new and startling insights about how life-force energy—chi—can help them achieve enduring health and wellbeing. “The smooth, balanced flow of your life-force energy is the single most important determinant to your health, vitality and happiness,” he says. Instead of the “no pain, no gain,” mantra of our over-caffeinated, stressed out culture, Frantzis gives readers energetic fitness exercises that comprise the unique Chi Rev Workout™. These transformative exercises teach readers to activate and strengthen their chi and to relax their nervous systems. “The more you relax, the more health, stamina and strength you will have,” says Frantzis. Frantzis reveals how once closely guarded and ancient secrets of chi are the power behind: —Spirituality, prayer and meditation. —Acupuncture and the potent self-healing methods of chi gung (qigong) and Taoist yoga. —Enhanced sexual vitality and intimate relationships. —Internal martial arts, such as tai chi. —Divination methods of the I Ching.

Opening the Energy Gates of Your Body explains the practice of chi gung (qigong), the 3000-year-old self-healing exercise system from China. Originally published in 1993, this book has become a classic that has inspired tens of thousands of Westerners to learn to activate their chi—life-force energy—to improve their health, reduce stress and reverse the effects of aging. This fully revised edition has more than 100 pages of new material, including Longevity Breathing methods; how cross-training in chi gung can enhance other exercises such as yoga, golf and weight training; and nei gung techniques for advanced practitioners. Chi gung exercises utilize a system of energy channels in the body that are similar to an electrical circuit. Frantzis’ thorough knowledge of energy arts and the Chinese language allow him to peel away the secrecy and metaphors. He presents this 300-page edition in easy to understand terms to suit beginners, with enough meaty detail and depth for the advanced martial artist, healer or meditator. Opening the Energy Gates of Your Body includes a comprehensive guide to chi gung theory and a systematic lesson plan with more than 100 illustrations. These low-impact exercises are suitable for almost any age or fitness level. They provide the foundation for learning any other chi practice, such as tai chi, martial arts, meditation or TAO Yoga. Frantzis explains not only how these inner aerobics are done, but why. Going beyond mere body movement, he teaches from the inside out, linking the biomechanics and anatomy of the physical body with the subtleties of chi. This book provides practical methods to help people become balanced, relaxed and joyful. Frantzis trained for more than a decade in China, became a Taoist Lineage Master—quite a rare occurrence—and came back to the West to teach. “My hope is that chi gung and tai chi can become mainstream exercises in the West,” says Frantzis. “We have a major health crisis looming; practicing chi gung or tai chi is one of the most effective ways people can reclaim control of their health and well-being.”

After completing seven years of training he became priest in the Fire tradition. Through Liu Hung-Chieh he was introduced to Jiang Jia Hua the Vice President of the All-China Scientific Qigong Association.
This connection gave Bruce access to Chinese cancer clinics where he completed his training as Medical Qigong doctor.
Tai Chi: Health for Currently Bruce’s teaching focus has shifted towards healing and meditation in accordance with his late teacher’s final wishes.
